Introduction

Hello and Bonjour, welcome to my website! I am very excited to present this site as a representation of my journey through my Master’s program and all the learning I have done along the way. This Capstone project is a compilation of an eleven month journey that started May 6, 2021 and will end with me finishing my life long goal of completing a Clinical Masters in Social Work. 

 

The journey towards completing my Clinical Masters of Social Work was very much a process. It came with tears, late nights and much stress. However, it also came with a lot of joy, new friendships and a greater understanding of social work and more specifically the artform of clinical practice. 

 

I had the added challenge of completing all of my learning during a global pandemic. COVID brought with it many unique pieces that influenced my program and changed the way I view education and clinical work. Ninety percent of my practicum was spent online. My full time job throughout this program was fully online for the first time in the history of the Federal Government and I will have spent my entire masters experience completely online. While not necessarily my plan when applying for my masters, COVID has highlighted to me a whole new platform in which to work, learn and practice. I have found many benefits from both working and learning online. I feel it is only right to present to you my Capstone through a website, as I feel this medium speaks to the nature of my practicum experience. 

 

Feel free to browse throughout my website, keeping in mind that this site showcases my learning and my professional practice. The reason I chose a Trauma Focus was due to the heavy influence trauma has had in both my professional and personal life. This website is an exploration of trauma, its impacts and my practice using a trauma informed lens and approach. 

 

I have tried to include as many different elements as possible because my journey was very much about both personal and professional growth. Please enjoy!
